How Do I Change The Gas Filter On A 125 Horse Mercury Outboard

  • #1

I was asking for some help on a problem in another thread and someone suggested I check the fuel filter, so I proceeded to practice that but tin can't find it. I figured information technology would exist around the seedling somewhere, but that just comes from a pigsty in the hull up to the motor. My fuel tank is downwards in the hull then I have to have autonomously some access panels to see it. Is the fuel filter inside the motor casing, or somewhere in the hull?

Thanks.

Re: Mercury 115HP '93 two stroke - Where is the fuel filter?

I have a service transmission, but its an off brand one that covers a series of motors. Is there a Mercury one that is just for the 115 ii stroke in this yr range?

Thanks for the assistance.

Re: Mercury 115HP '93 2 stroke - Where is the fuel filter?

OK, still haven't located a fuel filter on my boat. I have now traced the line from the gas tank in the hull up to the seedling and to the motor... no filter in that line. And so here is what I see where the line comes into the motor. Is that angled square looking thing with "in" and "out" on it a filter? I'grand guessing that's the fuel pump, non the filter.

Here is a larger picture of the motor and I don't encounter anything that looks like a filter except that white canister way up top but its no where most where the fuel line comes into the motor. In that location has to exist a filter here somewhere, right?

It is that big white cylindrical object in the 2d moving picture. I retrieve in that location's some other small i on the other side of the motor. You have to remove the oil tank to see it. It goes on the line from the accelerator pump to the lower cylinder check valves.

BTW, that's a clean looking engine you have in that location. I wish mine looked every bit adept.

Re: Mercury 115HP '93 2 stroke - Where is the fuel filter?

Cheers for the quick reply... so the white cylinder it is. It has what looks like heavy duty nil strips on the ii tubes. Do I but clip those and replace them with metal clamps when I replace the filter? They expect like something that might take been put on at the mill, but I can't believe that filter has been on at that place for 17 years.

Yes, the motor is so clean you lot can practically eat off of it. Amazing for a '93, but the whole gunkhole is pretty clean likewise. I think information technology spent most of its life in a garage, but its getting plenty use at present.

I'm just trying to larn my way around this matter without messing anything upwards. This forum has been an astonishing resource.

Should I install a separate fuel filter between the bulb and the tank, or is that not necessary?
